Toyo Proxes FZ4?

hey guys i have these Toyo Proxes FZ4 on my stock 95. they are on the factory wheels and i believe the tire size is 245/50-16r

just wondering how well these measure up against the rest of the tires out there? i went to the track and maybe i SUCK at driving but i couldnt get ANY traction out of these im talking like 2.6 60' times.

now would i get way more traction by switching to the goodyear F1 GS-D3? (i think thats the model)

just wondering if its worth the money to switch or if the tires i have now actually are pretty good? i assume they are crap becuase i can punch the gas halfway through 1st gear and hear them break loose.. no abuse of the clutch or anything.

what do you guys think?

PS - im considering the goodyears becuase of al the great things ive heard about them and also i need a tire i can drive in the rain as i plan on moving to portland, oregon here in a month or so. will try to drive this car right up until it snows.

Re: Toyo Proxes FZ4?

toyo FZ4s are a good tire......I'm running them right now.

they have great ratings for traction, temperature, and especially wear.

however, they are considered an all season performance radial. Even though I'm running 255/17's, I can still break 'em free sometimes through second without a problem......just matting the gas will do it from a roll. BUT, the other 98% of the time, they are absolutely great tires. They are awesome in the rain, and even the snow.

When my car was in storage this winter, I ended up backing it out of my garage for a weekend because I needed both bays, well wouldn't you know, it started snowing before I finished my project. Took her for a ride on the streets just to see how she would handle, and I'll say this, I could probably drive the car year round here in New England, if only not for the salt and sand they throw down here.

The other thing about FZ4's, is that they are really quiet for an all season tire. No vibration, no "hum" on the highway.

If you are considering another set of tires, I'm switching over to the T1S's. Great tire again, but just better suited for summer/dry driving if you know what I mean. More aggresive tread pattern, a little stickier, wear rating just as good, little less traction in the wet stuff.

Hope this helps
