mothers powerball? anyone use it?
Re: mothers powerball? anyone use it?
anyone? Im also curious cause it seems it would help polish my billet wheels. what a pain. seems like I have to polish them every month, and I only drive the car a 3-5 time a week, not everyday car. I want something to hlep me do really good job polishing them before I put on the zoops sealer.
Re: mothers powerball? anyone use it?
I'm interested in knowing how this new powerball thing works too. I asked someone in the auto store about it and he said he hasn't heard anything from anyone that has used it yet. I'm planning on doing a really good polishing job and clear powdercoating the rims.
Re: mothers powerball? anyone use it?
I just found a video of someone using it here http://www.autobarn.net/05140.html Looks pretty impressive...
Re: mothers powerball? anyone use it?
I don't think it works any *better* than using a microfiber towel by hand.
It just does it with a LOT less work, and in much less time -which is pretty much what Mother's claim.
So, if you've hand polished your rims, and liked the results -but dreaded the sweaty time-sink that hand polishing turns into, Mother's Powerball might be worth the $25 to ease your workload.

ok i found one at advance and it was $19.88 i used it it works good still had to hand polish the tight corners but i give it a thumbs up no more painful hands afterwards
Re: mothers powerball? anyone use it?
I got one a Advanced Auto for $19. Used it on my 22's on my Tahoe and I have to say it worked great. It really gets into the small areas that usually tear up my fingers. I think it is well worth the money just for the time it saves you.
My $.02

I use it on my Camaro wheels and I think it works great. Saves me a lot of time and it does a really good job IMO. I still use a small towel though to go over it one last time and make sure I didn't miss any spots and there is no residue in the corners of the spokes and valve stem, but I the time is saves me is well worth it.
Re: mothers powerball? anyone use it?
FWIW Mothers has two othre Powerball products on the market (or coming soon).
The Mini Powerball and the Mini Powerball MD.
Had I known I would have waited for the Mini.

Re: mothers powerball? anyone use it?
I've used it on my Z06's with Mothers metal polish and it seemed to work ok... It's pretty much just a time saver... I didn't get any better results than I could with some elbow grease... It is hard to get into every corner of the wheels because it's big... I had to go back over the wheel with a cloth to make sure I got all the wax off... If I knew they were coming out with the smaller size, I would have waited for that.
Re: mothers powerball? anyone use it?
I bought a Powerball Mini yesterday and took a quick chance to polish my diamond plate door sills.
I also picked up some of Mother's Power Metal polish -I had been using Mother's Billet Metal Polish with the large Powerball.
As one would expect, the operation and design of the Mini is just like the normal ball -only smaller.
I found the Mini Powerball tougher to control on the diamond plate, but much easier to get the nooks and crannies that come with the bends of the door sills. The Mini comes with a small extension -they thought ahead with the extension, becuase they put it in a plastic sleeve. This means you can actually get a hand down on the extension and help control where you're going with the PB Mini, because while the extension spins, the outer sleeve doesn't.
Between the regular PB and the PB Mini, I would personally buy the Mini. But I have that have tight spaces on them, and the regular PB can't even come close to getting into the space between the paired spokes on my rims.
If I had wider spaced spokes -like normal 5 spoke rims or something, I would probably go for the normal PB. Design wise and use wise I didn't see much difference in the two products other then their size -and thereby their ability to get into tighter spaces (Mini), or cover more space in a shorter time (the regular PB).
I think the bigger difference in ease of use came from the purchase of the Power Metal, metal polish. I had been using Mother's Billet Metal Polish with my PB, because I had it on hand and wanted to use it before buying more Metal Polish. The Billet is a thicker polish. It worked with the PB, but not very well. The Power Metal is such a thin polish it actually drips out of the bottle with no squeezing. I think this liquidity of the product actually helps the PB's to do their work.
I felt like I had quicker, better looking results when using the Power Metal polish. The trouble is that the Billet polish goes a long way, while the Power Metal polish, (due to it being so runny) gets used really quickly.
I'll still be putting my money into the Power Metal polish.
I'd try it with the PB's before judging the PB's.

I've used the Mini Powerball, it works great. Just be careful to keep it clean. After prolonged use it gets clogged up and dirty, the tips of the flaps get hard.
