tires on stock rims, couple ??s

ok, im gonna get some new tires. I have the stock salad shooter rims, 16x9.5. Whats a good tire size, I have 255/50/16s on there now. I wanna go bigger, what size ad brand should i get. I wanted to go to 295s but none I can find are z rated, is that ok? and how would it lok if i took the rears to XXX/55/16?

That's the problem with 16" wheels..... for a true high performance, Z-rated tire you are pretty much limited to the stock 245/50-16 or the slightly upsize 255/50-16. I have only seen the 295's in the "mid-range" tires. And generally, they are not the "low profile" tire. Going to a taller aspect ratio (55 rather than 50) only makes things worse.

For example, if there was a size like 295/55-16, it would be 28.5" diameter.... too large to even fit into the wheel opening. That's 3" larger diameter than the stock tire. So, you end up with speedometer problems, raising the back of the car higher off the pavement, effective "loss" of rear axle ratio, etc.
