Tires on Rims 19x9.5

I'm looking at getting the RUFF racing rims 278, with an offset of +45mm, and i was wondering on a 19x9.5 rim can i put 285/35-19's on the front and a 295/35-19 on the back? If not would a 30 series tire work better? Do i need to go with a smaller width front tire to be able to turn? Thanks for the help, Greg

For the front 275 30/19, or 285/30/19s.
And in the rear 27/30/19s, or 285/30/19s.
And if you want a little more sidewall in the rear try:
275/35/19s, or 285/35/19s

What is the bolt circle on the RUF wheels? I suspect they are for a BMW.

35-series tires will be 1 to 1.5" larger in diameter than the stock tire diameter. Raises the car off the ground, screws up the speedo unless you get the PCM reprogrammed, feels like you switched to a lower numerical rear axle ratio. 30-series is what you need with 19" wheels.

As to what tire will fit on what wheel width, go to Tire Rack, go to "tires by size", put in the tire size you are interested in, and when you get a list of tires in that size, look at the "Specs" tab for each manufacturer's recommendation on wheel width for his specific tire. That's the only way to know it a specific tire will fit CORRECTLY on a 9.5" wide wheel. That's all I do to see if a particular combination works.

The 45mm offset is consistant with the guidelines for a 9.5" wide wheel in the FAQ. Its going to be pushed a bit toward the outside of the wheel well, so if you are going to have a problem with lowering it (from your PM) its going to be on the fender lip.

ya on tirerack it says that a required rim of 10"-11" wide is need for a 295 tire combo. Also the bolt pattern is 5x120, i dont think that is the exact number that is needed is it? it's 5x102.65 or something like that isnt it? I wanted to go with a 35 series tire just for the thought of a little more room incase i hit a bigger bump, but i think the wider the tires, the more it will cushion the hit.

A 3rd or 4th Gen F-Body requires a 5 x 4.75" (120.65mm) bolt circle.

Whether its a good idea to run the wrong size bolt circle is open to debate, but I wouldn't do it.

Putting 19" wheels on a fixed axle car like a 4th Gen F-Body brings with it a whole lot of issues. Harsh ride, increased potential for rim damage, degraded handling, expensive tires, etc. When you decide to opt for "appearance" over "performance" you pay a price.

Ya, i've been doing alot of reading about the rims and consequences of the bolt pattern. I'm going to think about it for a little and decide from there. But do you think that a 285 will fit on the front without rubbing when i turn?

285/30/19 up front, no problem!
