NT 555R Drag Radial
Get the competitive advantage at the track and on the street
(Racing)
275/40R-17 93 B
Are these the racing tires everyone buys? I am in desperate need of 2 tires fast and I figured might as well get the DR's. I ask because I'm not sure what NT stands for, or the 93 B.

Those are the correct Drag Nitto's.... but if you drive your car daily I'd reccomend the NT555R Extremes... you still get the soft compound... but htese bad boys still handle decently in rain and light snow... THe guys I know that run the 555's out back slide around like a stripper at a ice rink.

THe 555extremes aren't as agressive as the full 555R's, but they have the soft compound and can perform just as well... but thier advantage is that they can be used effictively in wet conditions if you drive your car all year round. COnsider them a Super high performance all season tire... as where the 555R's is a Dry season/summer tire. Either way they both have about the same life span though...

They last about 10-15k. They are Awsome in the rain. They handled better in the rain than the 245/50-16ZR tires i had before. They ARE NOT good in the cold though. As far as racing. They give you good traction under half throttle, but they wont hook under about 60 degrees. I've driven in about 4 inches of snow but i couldnt go above 40mph. I dont think any F-body can. They are ok in the snow though.
Re: Tires... PLEASE READ!!
If you don't want drag radials get the goodyear F1 gsd3's. I have the nitto dr's for the track and the goodyears for the street. The goodyears are probably the best hooking non-drag radial tire out there, I cut a 1.917 60' on them in 48 degree air last year on the stock stall.
And they are AWESOME in the rain, I can drive 80mph in the south florida downpours without them even thinking about hydroplaning.

I was talking about the extremes... honestly... in the rain it's hard to break these puppies from getting traction when you want to 360.... when it's hot out... they hold well... but the downside I think to them is that the compund on them doesn't last long.

The Nitto Extreme tires is what I have in 285/35-18's and I hope they do not compair anywhere close to the drag radials. I cant drop the clutch above 2000 RPM's or the tires just go up in smoke. The only car I've rode in with drag radials was a 96 Cobra with boltons and bfg drag radials. He dropped the clutch at 5k and it launched and slammed your head back in the seat. My Nittos do perform decently in the rain though.

... I wouldn't put anything less on a ride than Nitto's.... these tires are rediculous. My favorite race was against a Gen II mustang with ET streets. He got me on the launch naturally... but I'd be damned if this bad boy didn't hook up and out gun em. After that day I was a believer of the 555's.
