tire size question

Re: tire size question
whether it will rub or not will depend on the backspacing and offset of the rim...not the tire.
remember guys (including me) run 315/35/17s on the back of our cars without rubbing

Re: tire size question
First.... what year is the car? We've got 36 years of F-Bodys to choose from?
That size tire will fit on wheels 9.5" to 11.0" wide.
If you are asking about a 4th Gen, it will definitely rub..... that's a 28.5" diameter tire, nearly 3" larger than the 245/50-16's that came on many 4th Gens. A 28.0" tire is about as large as you can fit in tne rear wheel openings, and that may take a bit of hammering. A 28.5" tire will also feel like you changed your gears from (for example) 3.42 to 3.08's.

Re: tire size question
Why not start with Discount Tire Direct..... click on the "Supporting Vendor Index" button at the top of any page for the link, or look at the "sticky" post at the top of the forum listing.

Re: tire size question
Depends on the aspect ratio of the tire.
A 295/45-18 tire has a huge sidewall, so there's not as much distortion when you put it on a 9.5" wide wheel, per manufacturers' recommendations.
A 295/35-18 tire has a much narrower sidewall, so its recommended by most manufacturers that you use at least a 10.0" wide wheel for it.

Re: tire size question
and ive checked all the main sites for tires, all discount direct has is bf goodrich in that size, and i have drag radials for racing, so i really dont want drag radials for every day to, and im not that big of a fan of the g force kdw, but it might be an alright tire, ive never ran it, any opinions on it? its supposed to be best in wet weather, and i dont drive my car if its gonna rain, i guess that really doesnt matter, but im not sure if i like the way it looks either, i might just go to a 285 and get some nitto performance, 216 seems alot more fair than other tires ive looked at

Re: tire size question
The BFG KDW is good in dry and wet. Go to Tire Rack and look at what they sell in that size, and then do the ratings comparison, where you can look at dry traction, wet traction, cornering, tread wear, noise, etc for various tires. They only list the KD, which is close to the top in dry traction, but probably not as good as the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3.
The Tire Rack link info is listed in the FAQ

Re: tire size question
As I have stated in many different threads, I have had 315s on 17x9 inch rims. Wouldnt EVER do it again but you shouldnt have ANY problem with 295s on a 9.5. I had to grind down the bump stop with the 315s on a 17x11 inch rim on my trans am. But you should be ok with 9.5 with 295s

Re: tire size question
only problem i have now is i hate the idea of paying almost 600 bucks for 2 tires, but its looking more and more like thats the only choice there is for a decent 295/35/18, i think ill take it easy on sliding and burning of my new tires, ive put less than 10,000 miles on my car since ive had it, and this is my 4th set, also my second engine, second tranny, and third rear end, ive never realized that, i have bad luck or i drive a little to hard, and its an automatic which means there should be even less wear and tear on the parts, but i guess if you race your gonna break stuff
