Tire size possibilities?

What is the largest size tire that will fit on a 95 Camaro without modification?

What is the largest size tire that will fit on the stock 95 Z28 rims?

What is the recommended size tire to run? I mean suggested by you guys, not stock on the vehicle.

First, we'll move it to the "Wheels and Tires" forum. While you're there, look over the "stickies" at the top of the topic listing. We have an FAQ that will provide some info.....

OK.... now that we're on the correct forum.....

The stock stock wheel on a 4th Gen Z28 is 16x8". That wheel will handle tires up to 275/285 width. Problem is, no one makes "performance" tires in anything wider than a 255/50-16 for a 16" wheel. Will fit fine, will not rub on anything. BFG makes some wider 16" tires in their "Radial TA" series, but they are a mid-level performance, all-season tire. Most of them are way too large a diameter, as well. You want to keep your new tire outside diameter as close to the stock tire diameter (235/55-16 = 26.2" on the base V8 cars; 245/50-16 = 25.7" on the V8 cars with the optional Z-rated tires).

For wide, performance tires, most people go to a 17" wheel. The stock WS6 and SS coupe wheels are 17x9" 50mm offset, with a 275/40-17 tire, so they will fit with no problems at all. Many stock Corvette wheels and aftermarket wheels are available in 17x9.5" with a 45-56mm offset, and they will fit perfectly, shod with a 275/40-17 or a 285/40-17.

Then there's the 17x11.0" 50mm offset wheel, that fits a 315/35-17 tire, but may require some hammering, etc.

My first set of aftermarket wheels for my Formula was a set of 17x9.5" OZ Racing wheels, with 275/40-17 tires all the way around.
