Tire Rub...How to fix it?

I am running P275/40ZR18's on the rear of my 97 Z28. The fronts are 17's.The rims are off a 99 corvette. I only get tire rub on the back tires. And only when I make a sharp turn at speed. It rubs on the inner wheel well. Where should I look to remedy this problem?

Do I need a panhard bar? Do I need to hammer in the wheel well? Do I need to replace the stock panhard bar bushings?

The car is pictured below if this helps with ID'ing the rims.

what offset?
You may need spacers
You also could pound out the wheel wells. Some dont want to do this. I could care less. Are they 275 all the way around?

I would pound the wheel well before I ran the spacers in the rear.

I don't know what the offset of the wheels are. They came on the car when I bought it. Also, the tires that are on the rear now are pretty much bald, so when I get new tires will the rub be worse with deeper tread?

I can feel the rear end move side to side when under heavy acceleration and turning so I am guessing a Panhard bar can't hurt. Should I get an adjustable one since the tires are bigger in the rear?

SOrry I'm asking so many questions, but I figured since all you guys have Z's and T/A's that you'd all know from experiance.

You already have a panhard rod. What you need is an adjustable tubular panhard rod, with firmer bushings (poly), spherical rod ends or a combination of the two. You might also want to check your swaybar end links and bushings (front and rear), since worn bushings there will allow the body to roll excessively in corners, increasing contact between the fender liners and tires.

The adjustable panhard rod is used to move the body side-to-side over the rear axle assembly. It has nothing to do with the rear tires being larger than the front tires.

sounds like you need spacers...there is plenty of people running larger wheels and tires than that without any rubs.

hell, i have 20x11 inch wheels in the rear running 275/35 ZR 20 tires and I cant make that pontiac rub...i forgot the offset of my wheels tho

Look at the reply to my inquiry - "Fit help - C5 wheels on 02T/A". See if you have an adjustible panhard bar, if not get one. Summit has plenty to choose from. Try this before "pounding" the body.
