Tire question
Tire question
I havent used this site much, been on ls1tech but its horrible getting the ppl on there to answer questions. I think im done with that site. I havent searched a lot for this specific question on here yet but i will. Im just hoping someone has been in my shoes and dont mind answering some questions or giving some advice...anywho, my question:
I have searched a lot on this topic but nothing really ever compaires the two.
295/45/17 M/T vs 325/45/17 M&H. Which hooks better? Whats the real sizes of the tires? This will be going on a car that shifts at about 5500RPM has a TH400 tranny without a gear vendors unit. 150 Shot and the rear end gears are still in play. Im thinking any place from 3.08 to 3.55. Im not sure yet. So whats your opinions??
but again ill do some searching maybe ill find my answer. Thank you

You can get tire dimensions from the manufacturer's websites.
Appears you are asking about the M/T ET Street Radial II. Note that this is not part of the same series of tires that get rave reviews for traction. I've heard very little about the "II" series.
M/T 295/45-17
-Diameter = 27.2"
-Section = 11.6"
-Tread = 10.6"
M&H Drag Radial 325/45-17
-Diameter = 28.0"
-Section = 12.6"
-Tread = 11.3"
I don't think many people have run the M&H tires. You might want to post this on the "Drag Racing....." forum, because that is where the serious drag racers hang out.
A 3.08 with a 28" tire sounds a bit under-geared, particularly with the TH400's 2.482 1st gear. I run 28" tires (28x10.5-15W ET Drags) with 4.11 gears, but my nitrous cutoff is 7,000rpm. I've never broken the tires loose with a 125 shot on top of the 500HP stroker. I've never launched it with the 300-shot though.
You might want to add a "signature" with basic info about your car - year, model, engine, tranny and any major mods.

Katech has a white Camaro SS with a LS7 that has the M&H 325/45/17 tires on it.
