third gen 16 or 17?
third gen 16 or 17?
alight i have a 86 z28 and was interested in the new style cragar ss and basicly i was wondering if anyone has a third gen with 17's and how its looks, / handles. ( i dont want it to look like a Suv or somthin like that)
also does anyone know what backspacing would be needed to keep the wheels inside the fender?. (i have drums in the rear) ive done a few searches but havent really been able to come up with anything. also it would be great it someone has a pic of a 3rd gen with the new ss's. and the last question, which is more opinionative do you think 16's or 17's would look better on a 3rd gen?
Thanks,
Chris

Re: third gen 16 or 17?
I'm not running Cragers but I have 17x9.5 wheels on my 92. They look fine, not too big like some that I've seen with 20s. Handling has more to do with tire than the wheel. 16s would be a good second choice, but it is hard to find tires wider than 255 in 16s, if fat tires are what your going for.
The back spacing for a 16x8 or 17x8 is 4.5". For a 17x9.5 it is 5.5" but you will need a 1/8" to 1/4" spacer on the front if you have stock brakes, 1LE cars don't need the spacers.
