Sumitomo HTR Z tires?
I ran them before I sold the rims, I thought they are awesome. When they are hot they stick great due to the extremely soft compound. If you are looking for a daily driver tire, go for it, in the rain they are o.k. If it is cold out they are not a good as most others, but for the price, they are worht it, buy them. By the way I got 40,000 miles out of them on my Z.
I just purchased a 1993 z28 that was driven by an 82 year old woman, and it had some side damage to it and fading paint. I'm getting it repainted for 9K and now I want to add some Zr1's.
The package I found with these rims have the Sumitomo HTRZ's. My question is, for a once in awhile driver, no mods, will this tire be ok. I don't want to race the car and the only mods I will be doing is exhaust, CAI, suspension and maybe a CAM in the future.
Thanks,

They'd be fine just for cruising. If thats all you're doing, then something with higher treadwear would be better IMO.
My questions is how would an 82 yr old woman get in and out of a 4th gen? She must have been relatively agile still. Most people half that age bitch and moan about getting out of these cars.

Got Cragar SS 612s Mags custom made and 275s front and 315s on rear GY GS D3s on my 2002 SS Camaro. Yes, spent 2600 for tires and wheels but I have spent $2600 on ****** and booze in my life and the ****** are long gone and I peed the booze down the curb of the street.
My point, choose your investments wisely.

It looks like I'm waking a few threads from stasis. Anyway, my impression of my 17" HTRZs (275 and 315) is they are fine for my conservative use. I don't care for the tread because the tires don't appear to have as much rubber actually touching the surface as the tire width would indicate. Consequently, I notice my 315s seem to spin more easily than I would like. They do not have the rim protector bead like the inexpensive Quantum Fuldas that I bought a few years ago (which have a great looking tread) but the HTRZs work fine otherwise. I can't hear them over the SLP loud mouth exhaust tone so I consider them quiet.
A personality committed to high quality at any price will be unhappy with the HTRZ but I'm all about having a sports car that looks great, performs reasonably well and is something that I can afford. I wanted the 315 width and the HTRZ is the most readily available. It's the chrome wheel that the tire wraps around that was my first ambition, so I'm okay with the cheapest but safe 315 on the market until I go racing or get rich.
