Sumitomo HRTZ II

So I just bought a set of these on tire rack, just needed a cheap set to get me through the winter. My current tires are mis matched and very bald, anyone run these? I'm not looking for stelar reviews...they were only 400 to my door so what can I expect.

I got a set on mine right now, for 400 they can't be beat. I am running them on '02 vette rims so mine are a bit bigger than stock. They have great traction. They do seem to track a little bit though. Might not be as bad with a stock front size. I will say they ride much better than the goodyear F1 runflats I had on there before, although when I changed them they were pretty shot. For the price I am more than happy with them.

Great! Thanks for the reply, I am hoping to have them on by next week.

I've heard many bad reviews and comments concerning this tire but I have to say that I never had a single problem with them. I had staggered tires, 315's in the rear and 275's in the front. They rode smooth and quiet with a decent amount of traction. For the price, they definitely can't be beat. Unfortunately, I haven't had the opportunity to own them long so I can't comment on the wear rating.

I've had HTRZ's on my '97 SS since August 2007. 315/35/17 out back, 275/40/17 up front

Tires aren't great, but they aren't bad. I got exactly what I expected out of them. Traction is OK, Handling is OK. There's plenty to be desired for, but it's not expected. I bought them because I wanted a cheap set of tires available in a 275/315 combination so I could have matching tires. Tire life was a little worse than expected (I have ~13,000 miles on them, the rears should last another 5,000mi hopefully, fronts a little more.)

They've seen a couple trips to the track, as well as daily use. The car mostly sits currently due to being in school. I'm not sure how much the tires were improved with the HTRZ II.

I'd recommend them over Kuhmos though.

Get what you pay for. Do not expect great traction or wear.
