Snow tire question

I totaled my winter car and I am forced to drive my Z till I find another one. I have Yoko ES100 tires right now which just spin as soon as i put it in gear if there is any snow on the ground. I am buying a couple extra salad shooter rims for my car and wondered if anyone knows of any tires that at least work in the snow? I know nothing will be great but I just need to be able to move.

Also I want to mount smaller tires on these extra rims for the snow. I know I can fit 235/55/16 on there. What other sizes would fit? I think less surface area will help a lot in the snow.

Thanks.

Re: Snow tire question

I used 225/55-16 Bridgestone Blizzak snow/ice tires for a while, in a set of 4 on my Formula in the winter. Looked like total crap, but the car was able to develop some semblence of traction in snow. Problem was when the roads were dry, you could sit at a traffic light spinning the wheels all day at 1/2 throttle..... while mom 'n pop drove off in their Buick leaving me in the dust.
