I have been looking all around the forum, but i can't seem to find anything clear. Has anyone actually put a 15" weld pro star (besides the 3.5") on the front of there car with a good street tire? I want to run pro stars all the time but i am trying to aviod driving around on an unstable skinny.

You need to scan through recent posts, or do a "search". There have been a couple threads recently on the issue of the limited backspacing choices available for the 15x6" Pro-Stars, for example. I thought there were two thread on the subject in the past week.

A quick scan through the topic listing shows these posts in the last two days:

http://camaross.com/forums/showthread.php?t=507350

http://camaross.com/forums/showthread.php?t=493700

.... which you've already posted to. Why not "TTT" the active thread rather than digging up one frmo last year

Sorry I thought after a year someone would have used those wheels and answer the question. I also want a bigger than 3.5 pro star for the front and have been searching this and other groups trying to find out if a 4-5-6 inch wide pro star fits and is a bolt on. Sorry about the method.

I have used this for width and backspacing info for the Weld wheels. -Just in case you need some clarification.

Thanks bayer. I checked that site before the only fronts ever discussed are 15x3 1/2. I called jegs no help, called summit no help. Some people "think" the 5-6-7 inch jegster or summit star or welds or cragar etc fit but dont really know.I even talked to a bogart guy and he said he didnt even think 15x6 bogarts would work. mdacton do you know why only 3 1/2 fit on the front?? Are you saying all width above 3 1/2 hit into the steering knuckle so its not a caliper or body clearance issue?

yep...have you ever seen a 3.5 on the front of one? if not then check it out and you will easily see what I mean.....you can't move the rim out anymore it would have to go in.....only way to go wider is a bigger wheels.

BTW don't run 3.5's on the street, I know so many people that have wrecked stuff over the years....they are not made to drive around on, just swap back and forth or find another type rim, I have seen some descent fiske stuff

There is no reason you can't use a deeper backspace in the front. The problem is its hard to find a manufacturer that makes a wider drag wheel with a deep enough backspace (large positive offset) to keep the wheel/tire inside the front fender. While a 15x8 wheel with a 5.5" BS is OK for the back, just keeping the wheel under the fender, its going to be toward the outside of the fender in the front. The stock wheels have a 6-5/8" backspace, so a 5.5" BS wheel is not going to hit the steering knuckle.

The interference with the Weld Pro-Stars and Draglites, which causes the need for the spacer, is not due to backspace. Its a problem with the center disc of the wheel (where it rolls over to form the rim) hitting the large horizontal bar that supports the caliper, and further in on the disc, where it hits the brake pad spring.
