Skinniest DOT front tire you can run?

I kinda want to set my car up to be a mean-*** hotrod 15" weld wheels in the back with some nitto DRs, and some front runners for the front. Only problem is this will be a daily driver and I'd like to remain DOT legal.

I'm talking something like 145-165 width in the front. Probably on a 16" rim. Z rated of course... lol.

Anyone ever tried this?

your going to have to get a metric tire if you want something that narrow, I have M/T sportsman on mine there still DOT approved there rated at 4.5 tread with but the over all is about 6 inches I have them on a 4 inch wheel

Re: Skinniest DOT front tire you can run?

have you driven a car set up like this before?

I have and can tell you it changes the entire car. See if you can drive someone's car set up like this before you commit and get rid of old tires/wheels. Slowing down to under 15 mph to take turns gets old pretty quick.

But if you like it, more power to ya.

Good point.

I don't think I'd really have a problem with it, but where I live I'd probably get rear ended since I gotta slow down

I guess I'll just go for 17x9 and 17x11 TTIIs instead.
