skinnies
I just bought a used set of draglites 15x3.5 up front and 15x10 out back. All the tires are shot. What are you guys running up front for daily drivers? The ones I got say 165/r15 made by remington? Are these 80 series or what? What size and brand should I go with, this is a daily driver. Thanks Mike
for the 15x 3.5s you should go with the micket thompson sportsman front 26x7.5-15. That is the tire they used on the grape of wrath project car in gm high tech performance, except the wheels they used were centerlines and it was a 15x4 but that tire will still work just fine for you. I am gettin some skinnies and tires whenever I get the money, already got the rims and slicks for the back. BTW your sig said 6 inch cowl club, I take that to mean you have a 6 inch cowl hood? where did you get it and how much did it cost, I have only seen like a 4 inch cowl.
honestly, It is not safe to run around in a daily driver on 4" or smaller wheels up front. You can also be cited for it by the law if they are bored one day...LOL. No, but seriously, if your car is truly a daily driver I would not run on 3.5" wide Aluminum wheels. They are not made to bear the loads of street driving to begin with.
Now, if you do decide to run them still, what tires are on the back? DO NOT RUN A BIAS PLY TIRE UP FRONT AND RADIAL IN THE REAR! You should have bias/bias or radial/radial on the car, try not to mix and match because bias up front and radial in the back is outright dangerous and radial front and bias rear is very unpredictable.

pepboys.com has the cheapest 165r 15's I've seen($25 shipped and no tax), but they can take up to 3 weeks to get them. I just got some from a lcoal firestone and they work fine. I drive on them everyday, even in the rain and snow with no problem. Although, I do have the 4" telstars, and I hear they are quite a bit stronger than the welds 3 1/2's. I know lots of people who drive on them everyday tho with no problems.
yeah I don,t think they can give you a ticket for it.
Keep in mind though a frontrunner is not warrantied for the street and I have seen them break in half during a turn.
I run a Weld Pro Star XP 15x6 up front which gives me the peace of mind that the wheel will stay intact.

what i dont like about running skinnies is that you cant steer or stop when you need to. i had that happen to me in one of my mustangs one time. it sucked. that was wi/ a 15-3.5 and 15-8 draglites w/ the moroso skinnies and some m/t et drags out back.
Tire Rack has Kumhos in 165/80-15. $23 each.
Also take into consideration the fact that a tire that size has a load capacity about 400-500# less per tire than the tires that come stock on an F-Body. They are probably marginal capacity, when you consider what the typical 4th Gen weighs, and the high % of the weight on the front end.
I've driven my car to the local track (6 miles each way) with Moroso skinnies on the front and QTP's on the back, and it isn't a lot of fun. I can't imagine how bad the car would plow in a hard turn. Throw a little moisture or gravel on the road and it all over.

Thanks for all the info guys. Hopefully I wont have any trouble running wheels like this. I put about 300 miles a week at least on my car. Car doesnt drive to bad as it sets now with four bald tires. My hood came from VFN fiberglass, company out of chicago, yes its 6''.I think it was about 600 primered only.
