Question Should I buy BFGoodrich Traction T/A's for my car?

I need new tires, badly. So I checked out tirerack.com and the tires that caught my eye were the BFGoodrich T/A T. I went to my local tire shop and it will cost around $435 for the tires, mounting, aligning, etc.

Should I go with the BFGoodrich, or another brand? My tires are the 235/55/16 found on the V6 Camaro.

BFGoodrich T/A decription and ratings., the only thing is, they are H rated.

Here are the other tires that fit my car.

Depends how often you drive in snow... those are "all season" tires. Given the 620 tread life rating, I'd assume they were a little on the "hard" side. Good for tire life, poor for traction.

Have you considered moving up to a "high performance" class tire (how often does it snow in NC?)? A 255/50-16 would fit your rims (assuming its a 4th Gen - might want to add that info to your signature), match your stock tire diameter (no speedo error) and give you a much wider contact patch.

Since the tires are only $74 at Tire Rack, you might want to show the pricing to your local dealer to see if he can meet it. I realize mounting and balancing are "extra", but the price you quoted looks a little high for what you are getting.

Where do you see the 620 rating?

We get alot of rain down here, and ice in the winter. I've been reading up on the tire and they all say that they have great grip. As for the price, it includes everything, with the warrenty. I just ordered the tires through the shop so they shoulb be here by Monday.

It's just a V6, with an open diff. so I'm not trying to pull in some major G's. I just need new tires that will give me good traction and can handle the random weather we get down here.

On the page you linked, click on "SPECS". Shows UTQG = 620 A B. Also describes in the writeup, and in the specs that they are speed-rated "T" (118mph).

You are apparently referring to the "H" rated tires, even though you linked the "T" tires. The H's are UTQG = 420 AA A, which appears to be a better performing tire than the one you linked to.

I've actually got the Traction TA's on the back of my Trans Am right now. I truly believe they gave these tires the wrong name. I know I've got a V8 and all, but if the road is just the least bit wet, the tires break loose very very easily and send the rear end sideways. I honestly wouldn't reccomend them...

Just my .02 cents tho...
