Same tires...but one is wider.

I bought some brand new et streets from a board member and they look great. They are 26x16x11.50 and that is what both tires say...but one is about an inch and a half wider than the other. one has a 8.5 inch tread width and the other has a 10 in. tread width.

Will these or should i say one tire(the wide one) still work on my stock 16x8 rims? If it wont maybe i should sell the wide one and see or see if m/t will do anything about it.

Thanks
James

According to M/T, the tread width is supposed to be 9.7". Something sounds screwed up. Since there is such a big mismatch on the tread width, you also need to check the diameter of the slicks mounted on the wheel, and at the type of pressure you plan to run. That would mean putting them on the car, setting the pressure to about 15psi, marking the bottom of the tire at the tangent point to the pavement, and rolling the car forward until each tire has made one full revolution. If they don't both make the same revolution in the same distance, they are mismatched.

If the diameters are different on the tires, it will really mess things up. Car isn't going to go straight, and its going to mess up your limited slip differential. And, since the carcass of the tire appears to be different, things might get even worse at high speed, when one tire "grows" at a different rate than the other.
