Whistling noise?

Ok i have a 94 formula lt1 A4 with 188,000 miles on it. Lately when I have been taking it out for drives. When I start to get up in the high rpms...there seems to be a strong whistling sound..not the motor winding out. It only does it when the motor is a little cold. The motor is running pretty good I guess....Although after it has warmed up. From a dead stop If I step on it it will barley squill the tires...but yet It will take of like a bat out of Hell and will shift out of first between 45 and 50mph....does it sound like my motor is not running strong?

Re: Whistling noise?

If you have good tires, an automatic, and 2.73 than your car is probably fine. My car shifts at 55-60mph. Although I can almost spin through all of first, atleast half ways anyways. The whistling sound might be a gas leak on a manifold???

Re: Whistling noise?

Whistling noise when cold sounds like an accessory pully bearing. My alternator does this.

Water pump could possibly be starting to go out. Just a thought.

Re: Whistling noise?

Power steering fluid could be a possibility. Mine does it when its cold out. However that is more of a whine than a whistle. When my altenator was starting to go it would whistle just like a turbo (I would get lots of attention in the tech lanes at the track lol) but it didn't go away once warmed up.
