rim and tire fitment question

i just ordered a set (4) of chrome 18x9.5 zo6 rims with a 57mm offset. my 95 z28 has been droped about 1.75 inches. would i still be safe to run 275-40-18 tires or should i go with 275-35-18? and could i go with even a 285 or so on a 9.5 with the drop? thanks for the help in advance

Yeah, not to be off topic here, but Zack, your car looks ''just right'' with those wheels and tires.

After going to the trouble of lowering the car 1.75", why would you want to raise it back up 1/2" farther off the ground (added sidewall, "40" compared to "35") with the 40-series tires?

they are stock springs. I know it sits lower than stock height though

because i am now putting on the wings west body kit, and i think im going to be around 4 inches from the ground with it. i think every bit will count. and the other reason is for ride comfort. i little more tire will be a smoother ride. but if it dont fit, then it dont fit.

i found this site, i think is pretty good. it says that the stock tire size is 26.18. then if i went with the 40 it is 26.66. and the 35 it is 25.58. i guess the best way is to take a tape measure to it tomorrow.

Depends... what size tires came "stock" on your car? It will be coded into the build code tag, and should be shown in the computer printed tire info sticker on the driver's side door.

The base V8 cars got 235/55-16's (26.18"). But if your car left the factory with the Z-rated tire options, which many 4th Gens did, it had 245/50-16's (25.65"). The WS6 and SS's came with 275/40-17's (25.66")

i didnt look on the door, i just looked at the tires that are on there now (235/55-16). the 40 tires will work on there. its only about a 1/4 inch all the way around more then stock.(about a 1/2 total.) i just think the 35s would look better, but a little rougher ride. i would like to a least make it over a speed bump. i will probably go with the 35s and use spacers if i need them. thanks a lot
