Can someone tell me the difference between 17x8.5 and 17x9.5 rim sizes are will they both fit on my 02 z.

 

they both will fit, and there is not really that much difference between the two. you need to provide two bits of info to insure that they fit correctly, tho..

bolt pattern, and offset.

the bolt pattern should be our standard: 5 x 4 3/4 or 5x120.65mm.

to get the normal fitment(how far the wheel sticks out of the wheel well) that most people use, i would go with an offset of around 38 for an 8.5" wide wheel and around 56 for a 9.5" wide wheel.

the other difference will be tires, and i believe these are the standard tires to be put on those sized wheels:

17x8.5 - 255/45-17
17x9.5 - 275/40-17


i have 17x9.5 with 275/40-17's all the way around and love them, and the tires are not much more than the 245/50-16's i was buying when i had the stock wheels on.
