Which Rim Fits?
Hey whats up, I want to put some slicks on the car for the next time at the track. I want to put a 15" rim with a 28x10 slick, I think thats a good combo for my setup. My problem is I tried about 3 15" rims and all 3 hit my calipers. Which 15" rim fits over those calipers without shaving the calipers. If there is no such rim any opinion on a 16" rim and tire combo would be appreciated.

No big deal to grind the fins off the calipers.... its just the part that wraps around the "corner" of the caliper, not the whole thing. Weld Pro-Star or Draglite 15x10 with 7.5" backspace.
Bogart makes a 4th Gen specific wheel in 15x9.75" that clears the calipers. It has the correct offset to keep the tire inside the fender. The Telstars tend to stick out a bit for my taste.

They do not make the Convo-Pro in the correct backspace, and when I asked them for a custom set a few years ago, they were not interested. If I had it to do over again, I would have ordered my Strange 12-bolt in the 3" narrower "3rd Gen" version, reducing the backspace requirements by 1.5"
I think to some extent, what "tucks under the fender" is a function of what width tire you put on the wheel. The outer edge of a 15x8 wheel, with 5.5" BS, will end up in exactly the same place as the wheel in this picture (15x10 7.5" BS):

If you drop the backspace to 5.0", the tire has to move 1/2" further out. Whether this is acceptable to you sort of comes down to a personal preference.... there is no hard and fast answer. That's why I qualified my original comment with "...stick out a bit for my taste."

Reducing the backspace moves the tire out, toward the outer edge of the fender. It will only be a problem with clearance to the edge of the wheel opening if you are running a 28" tire. My 28" QTP's required moving the axle back about 1/4" with an adjustable LCA. The 28" ET Drags in that picture required major cutting to the leading edge of the rubber bumper cover.
28x11.5-15 Hoosier QTP
28x10.5-15W ET Drag - with only 1/2" off the bumper cover. I ended up with 1.5" cut off.

Well the guy that i bought the wheels from dropped them off. They are 15x8 1/2 centerline convo pro's with a 5" backspacing. The rubber on the wheels are ET streets 26x11.5 with only 3 passes on them, Both rims and tires are mint. I paid $275.00 for the rear setup I passed on the matching front wheels, He wanted an extra $200.00. I figured I didnt need them since I think I will be running in the high 12.s for now, until the heads get done in january 2005. He has a 2002 TA which he told me that when he staged with this rim-tire setup he dumped the clutch with gas pedal smashed and the rev limiter screaming and a 125 nos shot these tires hooked up without spinning. I think I believe him I just dont know if the ET streets can really do that
