Recommended Tires?...
Recommended Tires?...
Well I'm beggining to lose more and more tread so new tires will be needed sometime in the not TOO distant future... I'm beggining to save up as we speak. What I was looking for was some tires I can get a smooth ride in but a few quick turns at the track aswell... Performance / Reliability basicly. Not looking to spend a hefty buck so if it costs to much I'll just drop back down to Reliabililty for the moment, but what should I be looking at?
Edit: Also what tires were those that GoodYear had that looked like slicks but actually weren't? Also are there any White Lettering Tires for our cars?

Re: Recommended Tires?...
white lettering on a late model camaro is bad...mmmkay!!!
as for good tires...are you talking something like a drag radial or a hi perf street tire?
as for street tires here are some good ones to look up:
BFgoodrich gforce KD or KDW
firestone firehawk SZ50 (have them personally on past 2 Zs...AWESOME)
goodyear eagle F1 gs-d3
drag radials:
nitto
bfgoodrich comp t/a dr
and i think mickey thompson is now making one

Re: Recommended Tires?...
I had a set of Cooper Cobras Z rated on mine for a while. They were not the super high performance tire but more of an all weather tire (still suck in snow). Being Z rated, they offered good grip and actually lasted a lot longer than the stock tires. BTW, Cooper tires are made in the USA so buy a set and help save an American job.
Re: Recommended Tires?...
Nitto 555's
BFG G-Force T/A KDW
Kumho Ecsta Supra 712's
Kumho 711's
I've ran all of the above and the BFG's were the best, but didn't last as long as the others, probably due to my hard driving (I drove harder with the BFG's since I know what they are capable of)..
I now have a set of Nitto 555RII's on the car and those ride rough and corner like you are on rails as soon as they warm up.

I was thinking about the Goodyear Eagles since I'm a GoodYear fan...
How much did the BFG's cost though?
Re: Recommended Tires?...
Any comments on the Firestone Firehawk Wide Oval. According to tirerack that's the tire that replaces the sz50. Yet no reviews on it.
As for the SZ50, where can that tire be found at reasonable price?

If you have a Costo near you and are a member, you can get these tires at around $155 each mounted and balanced with road hazard.
