Rear Telstar wheel & tire size questions

I'm looking to buy a set of rear 15x10 Centerline Telstars to go with the 15x4's I have up front for the track and I want to run the new M/T ET street radials in a 275/50/15. My question is what backspacing would be best for this wheel tire combo for my car? It looks like the only two choices for our bolt pattern are 4.5 or 5" bs, just checking with the experts here before I order.

Re: Rear Telstar wheel & tire size questions

A 15x10 wheel needs a 7.5" backspace. You might get away with 6.5 or 7.0 using the 275/50-15 with a 11.5" section width. Look at my 7.5" backspace wheels, with a 13.1" section width ET Drag. With a 7.5" BS your tires will be about 1/3" more inside the fenders than mine. A 4.5" BS wheel will put them about 2.75" further out. A 5" BS will put them about 2.25" further out of the fenders.

Re: Rear Telstar wheel & tire size questions

Checking Jegs & Summit online I don't see a 15x10 Telstar in our bolt pattern with 6.5 or 7" bs, have you heard if there is one available in that size? If not I guess I will just go with the 15x8 and a 275/60/15 tire, thats a 28" tall tire though but it's listed for a 8" rim. Thanks for your help Fred.

Re: Rear Telstar wheel & tire size questions

I have the 15X8 Telstar's with a 5" back space. The 26-10.5x15 QTP tires fit in the wheel well. The 27-11.5X15 stick out of the wheel well but don't hit on the track. IMO the 15X10 won't fit with that offset (really need 7.5" backspace). The 27-11.5x15 QTP tires are running on the min. recommended rim width.

Jim, it looks like I'll go with the 15x8's then if the 15x10's arent available in the bs we need. I want to get the M/T et drag radial, the only other one in a 275 they list for a 15x8 rim is the 275/60/15 which equals a 28x11.5x15. Do you think that tire going to fit ok in my wheel well with a 5" bs? I'd like to stick with a 26" tall tire, maybe I'll just use the 275/50/15 on the 8" rim. It says the range is 8.5-11", I wonder if they would be ok on an 8" for use mainly at the track.

Greg, I think that the 28" are too tall. They's take away from your gear ratio and may rub. I would get the 26" tires on 8" wheels. I think you will get away running them even thouht they should be on wider wheels. My QTP tires do cup a little and I'm seeing a wear pattern. I still hook ok.

Re: Rear Telstar wheel & tire size questions

Yeah, I didnt really want to run a 28" tire, I know that would take away from my gearing and my car seems to really like the 4.10's. I think I'll go with the 15x8 with the 26" tire then, I'm not too concerned with the wear patter on them since they will only be used driving to and at the track anyway. Thanks Jim.

Re: Rear Telstar wheel & tire size questions

i'm going to be putting the 275/50/15 ET Street radial on my 15x8 telstars, when regular 28x12.5 ET streets i have on there are worn out.
I have the 5" backspace and i don't think you'll have any trouble running the tire.

Email me if ya want to see the pics of the car with the 28" et streets

Just an FYI, there IS a Centerline Telstar 15 X 8 with a 5.5 backspacing on it. I'm getting ready to order them myself actually.

Yeah, I just saw that today on Summit too. I currently have the 15x8 5" backspace with ET Streets and am looking to order another set to put Nittos on for the street and will have to go with the 5.5" backspace which should tuck things up underneath much better. Only wish they had the 5.5" backspace out when I ordered my current set.

I just ordered my set (with 15X4's too) a couple of days ago. FYI, they're drop shipped and take a while to get.
