Question About Beating a Dead Horse

I just had a quick question on tire/wheel sizing. I put 18's on my car, and put on 245/40's on it. I did that because they were a stock replacement size. I don't mind them, but it looks like they are narrower than the stock tires were, so I have been looking at different sizes. I saw a Camaro with 275/35's on it, but they were on a 9" wheel. My wheels are 8.5 inches, would those tires work, and would I have rubbing issues?

Thanks!

Re: Question About Beating a Dead Horse

Most tire manufacturers recommend a wheel width of 9.0" - 11.0" for a 275/35-18.

A 255/40-18 fits on an 8.5" wide wheel.

Whether a tire rubs or not is mainly determined by the offset and backspace of the wheel. 315's will just fit in the back, but requires a very specific combination of wheel width and offset.

Re: Question About Beating a Dead Horse

I may have to go with the 255's. I'd like to go with the 275's, but I should have been more thorough and gone with 9" wheels. I just like the width of the 275's over the 255's
