POLL: Powdercoat original wheels or replicas?

I have two sets of ZR1 17x9 wheels, one is original GM and the other is aftermarket knockoff/replica. I want to powdercoat one set black to use on a silver car. Both sets are in very good shape.

I was thinking I would powercoat the replicas and keep the GMs all original but the problem is the GMs are off the car and ready to go and the others are still mounted on the car, and would make the situation much more difficult.

So I ask for your opinion, which ones should I powercoat?

Also I was quoted $85/wheel to powdercoat black, any input on how reasonable that is? Sounded pretty fair to me.

i'd powdercoat the replicas, i like the 9.5's more and you might as well keep the GM's as they were, You can probably find a hook up around where you live that can powder coat for $50 each, look around and see if you can find better.

$50 really? The $80 was a referral from a friend...

Is there a certain quality or skill in powdercoating a wheel? Or is it basically the same all around? Basically what I am asking is, will I be better off paying a little more for a high quality job, or is it all the same?

Thanks

DaveH28....you might want to check out this http://frrax.com/rrforum/index.php?act=ST&f=15&t=5500& before you go ahead and powdercoat.

Re: POLL: Powdercoat original wheels or replicas?

That's good info, I had never considered that, Thanks...

Should I be concerned about the same thing if I buy new wheels that are already powdercoated? AFS offers them for sale, and I found several sets online for under $500 from a different seller. They seem like a good deal but I certainly don't want to have problems with them bending or breaking...

Thanks
