the paint is a little darker then I had envisioned, but I think they came out pretty well. let me know what you guys think. it needs to be lowered that is next on the list.

Re: painted 10 spokes. what do you guys think?
thanks for the comments guys.
I used dupli color wheel coating and clear coat to paint them.
yea the wheels are actually painted gunmetal not black which is why it does not match. the gunmetal is darker than i thought it would be and looks even darker in the pics. thanks for your opinion.

Too monochromatic IMO. Needs the silver lip to break up all the darkness.
This was the first reincarnation of my 10 spokes:

They're now done as Anv Ed. Wheels but I'm looking to get rid of them and get something else.

looks nice....I'm also painting my rims, they are stock rims that were painted red and after awhile the red started to fade to a pinkish color so i decided to paint them black. I'll post when i finish.
Re: painted 10 spokes. what do you guys think?
damn thats cool lookin', maybe i'll do something like that to mine... i've been looking to get the special edition wheels, but they're so damn rare. that is unless greed4speed wants to ship his half way across the country...

I have to say I like shannon's a lot more with the lip on there, but they look good nonetheless. What did you do to prep them? Did you take the tires off?
P.S. Shannon, if you wanna trade for my WS6 rims, let me know.

Re: painted 10 spokes. what do you guys think?
Thanks for the compliments.
I'm looking at aftermarket wheels, but my cam install is going to cost more than I planned so wheels will be a few more months down the road.
Prep...CLEAN THE HELL OUT OF THEM. Tires were left on both times. I took mine to the car wash hit them with degreaser and high pressure soap. Didn't work totally great, so I pissed my wife off by putting them in the tub with hot soapy water and used a stiff brush. Ya, I cleaned the mess up...
Then I used the reddish primer. IMO it seems to work better. I painted the rim area siver Duplicolor engine enamel. Masked off the the rim and sprayed the spokes and center caps with cast iron Duplicolor engine enamel. Didn't mess with any clear. I was still getting compliments on them 2 years after. People thought they were powder coated and though I was joking when I said it was spray paint.
For Anv Ed wheels. Strip off the paint of 10 spokes to the metal. Becareful on the face of the spokes and rim because they are machined. I didn't know this when I started the project. Cleaning all the paint out of the machined grooves it a PITA!!! I found a brass brush works best. If I was to do it again, I'd just take them somewhere and have them dipped. Next I masked off the machined surface and primed and painted black. Took all the masking off and clear coated everything. I did all this on my aparment balcony with crappy weather so it didn't turn out totally great. Now that I have a garage to work in, I'm thinking about redoing them if I have to keep them. I'd wait until I get a compressor again so I can shoot the paint this time. Thinking of doing a very dark gray metallic instead of black.
