Best bang for the buck 275/40/17s

Hey guys,
i have a 99 SS with the 5 spoke crome wheels.
i've been short on cash the last couple years and have not been able to registar my car. but this summer i want to drive again, but my rear tires are bald and my front tires seem to have developed a bump or hard spot during storage.

what are the best 'z' rated tires (275/40/17) for as little money as possible (maybe $125 each?). is there anything half decent in that price ranger?

www.Discounttiredirect.com will have the best deals with free shipping. Tirerack might have some good deals too, just have to shop around.

Those sumitomos have a good price on ebay or www.tirerack.com but they have a low treadwear and traction rating. They will probably grip alright, but won't last very long. My vote is for the Hankook ventus sports.

H105 has a SOFT sidewall. They're on my wife's Grand Am. The sidewall flex is equivalent to some H rated Dunlops I ran on it. Nothing in comparison to the KDWS sidewall previously on the car. These are more of a touring tire.
ASX, see above
K104, don't know, but going off the H105 with the same rating.....eh
712, SUCK A$$. Sidewall is stiff, but they easily spin on the rear, push out on corners up front, and are very out of round. Only good thing about them is wet traction. I have a pair on my SS.
G-force I don't know. I've ran KDWS on the GA and have KD on the rear of the SS. BFG tends to have stiffer sidewalls.

As for the Sumitomo suggestion, see K104. Not all Z rated tires are ceated equal!!!

From experience I'd have to go with the BFG's. Ive owned a few sets of them and had alot of experience with Kumho's. IMO Kumho's tires are for imports. I had their H101's and the tread was so 'hard' that it was sloppy on even dry pavement. The K104's were a 5 out of 10 for the $$$

My KDW's are good tires, but they just wear down too quickly, especially with my driving habits.

Re: Best bang for the buck 275/40/17s

I just picked up some Riken Raptor tires for my new Zo6 rims.

They are supposedly a decent tire, a sub-company of BF goodrich
I was told. I got all 4 for around $550, but can get them even
cheaper off ebay.

I will let you know how they are in a couple weeks when I get my
car rolling again.

I've had my KD's on the back of my car (that is daily driven) for ~13 months now and I still have at least 70% tread left. I'd bank on it being your driving habits.
