nitto drag radials
nitto drag radials
ok, i have a question. I have a 97 ss slp with the 3.42 gears and I am thinking about putting some nitto 555's on the rear. I know they're great tires but my only concern is when I run my car I don't want to hurt the rear end. should I have to worry about this? and also what do you suggest me getting, the 275's or the 315's?
Since you have 3.42's, we'll assume you have an M6 tranny. Generally, an M6 with high HP, big RPM clutch dumps and sticky tires is risky with a stock 10-bolt. On the other hand, we have no idea what kind of power you are putting down. "Stockish" power levels shouldn't be a problem.... 500HP and a 5K clutch dump and you will have a problem. Are you planning on running these on the street, or on a well-prepped track? Are you asking about 275 or 315's because you are only interested in using your stock 17" wheels?
Why not add a "signature" with basic info about the car - year/model/engine/trans and any major mods. That will save you having to type the info in every post.

yeah, all I have is bolt on's but in the next couple years i'm looking to make around 450 hp with a good set of heads and a cam, maybe a small shot of spray. I will be using the stock 17 inch wheels also for the tires.
With the power level you are at now, DR's will be no problem. For the stock 17" wheels, go with the 275's. A 315 is too wide for the stocker. By the time you are ready for the heads/cam, you will need a new set of tires and wheels anyways.
