Need some suggestions on tire sizes for ¼ mile
I plan on buying black polished Torq Thrust M's when I get back from Afghanistan. I was thinking I want 17x 9 all around but I'm not sure what the advantage is to having larger wheels on the back. These rims are going to be for the track only and I have some torq thrust 2's I have for the road that are 17x9 with 235/45ZR17. What wheel sizes and tire sizes would you guys recommend.
Sorry if this has been posted before I couldn’t find any other threads on specific tire sizes
thanks

Re: Need some suggestions on tire sizes for ¼ mile
If you are buying wheels for the drag strip only, buy light weight 15" drag wheels (e.g.- Weld Pro-Stars or Draglites). You don't want to use heavy 17" street wheels. There is no advantage to a large diameter wheel for the track. More of a disadvantage, since you have less sidewall to work with.
Look at the "sticky" for "Drag Wheels".

For what you list as mods, 26" DOT slicks or Drag Radials will be fine.
PS: 235/45-17 isn't the best choice for a street tire. Those are about 1/2" smaller diameter than stock, and sort of narrow for a 9" wide wheel.
