Re: Lugnut torque specs?

I know I'm bringing this thread back from the dead, but I just stripped 2 lugnuts using my torque wrench set at 100 lb ft.

Just curious, were the nuts lubed?

I routinely tighten my alloy wheels to 100 lb-ft, in a star pattern, in two steps, and never came close to stripping a lugnut. I use anti-sieze, since the street wheels get swapped out so often for the drag wheels.

I use the same all the time no problems here, They have even been over tightened by accident without stripping.

I put anti-sieze on them awhile ago, but haven't put any on recently. I thought I read in the owners manual not to use anit-seize so I stopped. I'm probably gonna start using it agian though...

Re: Lugnut torque specs?

Always used 80 #/ft of torque on alloy wheels. 100 is a little excessive.
