Knockoff wheels

Im in the market for upgrading my wheels (I need at least 17"s, since I want to upgrade the front brakes to C5 rotors and C6 calipers), and ideally, I'd want 02 SS wheels. Having a hell of a time finding OEM ones at a decent price though, so i found a set of knockoffs on ebay for $500. Has anybody had experience with these wheels? Im open to other aftermarket wheels, but I'd rather not spend much over $500, and I want at least decent quality wheels. Alternatively, any idea where i could get somewhat scuffed OEM SS wheels? Ive had some experience restoring wheels, so id be ok with that.

Re: Knockoff wheels

What brand are the replicas?

There are outfits like OE Wheels and AFS who have sold thousands of sets of their replica wheels, and I have seen few, if any problems reported. I've been running a set of AFS ZR1 replicas (17x9.5/17x11.0) for 12 years and they remain in excellent condition. Never has a problem of any kind.

I thought maybe you were looking at a set of 3rd Gen Corvette true knock-off type wheels from the title:

Re: Knockoff wheels

An internet search seems to suggest that "Hollander" is a company that assigns a number to a wheel, and then catalogs what vehicle it will interchange on. It does not appear to be a manufacturer. But that's just what popped up in a "search".

Re: Knockoff wheels

I believe it was AFS that I bought some 16x8 SS style wheels off of years ago. They suck.
One developed a crack a year ago and the other had a horrible run in with a curb that chipped a huge chunk off the lip. The aluminum looked like pot metal not aluminum.

My next wheel upgrade is going to be OE Wheels LLC, they seem to have a better product, better warrantee and better standards. their customer service does kind of suck. The Scott guy failed to email me or call me back several times when I was going to make the One and half hour drive to pick some up. So they missed out on the sale then.
