Wheel size are 245 45R17. I want to get 4 tires, all same brand. I was thinking something wider in the back. Also looking for the best traction so I dont burn out as easily. Friends were telling me to go with the nittos but I have no experience with them. He said that before you street race you burn out, and they get sticky in order to grip the road better. Anyone ever hear of this? Maybe someone can let me know the best tire for the buck, and which size I should be looking at.

 

245/45-17 is a tire size, not a "wheel size". To select the correct tire, you have to tell us the wheel width. That will determine what size tires can be mounted on them.

 

How can you determine the wheel size when they were purchased by the previous owner. Im new to a lot of this stuff. Sorry for sounding stupid.

 

Sometimes the wheel size is stamped on the inside edge of the wheel. You could also measure the distance between the outer edges of the wheel (not the tire), and subtract 1" to get the wheel width.

 

FYI
245-45-17 was the front tire size for the C5. If you want wide tires the 4th gen 's w/17" wheels came equipped with 275-40-17. They're the same diameter, but you'll get a wider tire w/the 275.
