How to revive polished alloy Torque Thrust II's?

I have a set of polished Alloy Torque Thrust II's purchased in 2002 on my 94 Z28 Vert. The rims are starting to look ugly even after a washing.

I am looking for the best way to revive them and make them look new again. Perhaps using the best product or a certain technique someone may know.

Your help is greatly appreciated. I will post pics of the rims tomorrow, I'm in class now and am sooo bored but don't have pics on my laptop.

I know I should put the pics on the laptop for scenarios like this..

Question: Are your rims clearcoated? If not use this. It works.

clearcoated?

I have never put any clear coating on them, how would I know if they were clear coated when I purchased?

Wink

By the look of the pics you posted, they are not clearcoated. They will polish up pretty easy. Post more pics when you get them back in shape!!!

I have polished Smoothie II's and I use a product called NevrDull to do a good cleaning on them. THen use Mother Billet aluminum polish to put a real shine on (+ lots of elbow grease!!!). I find that both these together work wonders on my rims when they are looking dull.

cleaning

it depends on how much time you are willing to spend as to how well they look. for the best results you can go to eastwood and get some tripoli and a spiral sewn cotton buffing wheel and go to town. then use a good polish to really get them to look chrome. after you get them cleaned you can use a sealer like zoop seal to keep them looking that way for along time or take them to a powder coater and have them clear coat them. there is another product call simichrome that eastwood sale also that i have not used yet but have seen work wonders on a set of old wheels but its pricey.. like $13 bucks for a 1.76 oz. tube
