i may have to try a clay bar, do you know if it will damage the wheels at all though, the chrome? and what type of clay bar would you use? any suggestions, i know some are better than others.

thanks

Is this overspray that accidentally got on the wheels, or were they intentionally painted black? If painted black, it will depend on whether they used laquer, enamel, or powder coat.

Laquer thinner

Chrome is impervious to most petro based products. Lacquer thinner will remove most paints as will xylene...Home Depot ...about $7.95 _ use in the open air and beware they are tough on your fingers, lungs and skin.

thanks for the imput, i may just get a few things to try out, i just dont want to end up tearing my chrome wheels up if i could have prevented it in the beginning.

paint thinner and clay bar still seem to be the top two options from what i have been told.

keep them coming!

Clay bars work for things like overspray and little spots. It's not going to strip the paint off painted wheels, if that's why you're asking "why not clay bar?". Chemical stripping sounds like your only option.

I’d suggest you try a chemical paint stripper, probably something like Jasco. That’s for removing paint from chrome. Jasco doesn’t scratch or damage the chrome, and you should get in spray, or gel form.
