grinding calipers

While grinding down my rear calipers to fit my Prostars, we broke through on the caliper mounting bracket, to where the floating pin is. I need to get a replacement for it immediately. Other than a salvage yard (hit or miss), where can I get one and not get raped by the stealership?

i've seen the pics of people grinding down theirs, and its not a whole lot.....yet we've gone really deep yet still have contact! wtf. Its the correct backspacing, so i don't know whats going on.....anyone help?

Thats a tuff one man. You probably won't get a lot of reference help on it either since most people haven't needed to grind their rear calipers.

My guess is that they are obviously weaker now than before the grinding took place, so they won't be as realiable to hold up to the braking abuse as they were before. How much or how little they will take is really unknown.

sorry to hear the misfortune...I wonder why they didn't fit right in the first place with the rears....that is quite puzzling. 98 was kind of an off year though and no 4th gen is the same. I've seen some go on like a glove and some others that needed a little grinding. Never have I heard of your problem before though.
