Re: good tires?

A buddy of mine had a set of Sumi's. The tread life sucked REAL bad. IF you're looking at those, you might as well just use Kumho Ecsta's. They have excellent tread life for a daily driver tire. I'm on my 3rd set.

Re: good tires?

I have the Sumitomo HTRZ-II for the last 4yrs. A very good tire with traction & very good in the wet and geat tread life. I will buy another set. The now parent company of Goodyear. The tread design on the HTRZs is now showing up on the more expenive Goodyears. Check out Tirerack for comparsions with other tires.

Re: good tires?

I have the Sumitomo HTRZ's on my 94 Z28. They are a good tire for the money. With a 160 treadwear rating, they aren't going to last as long as others on the market (I think the HTRZ II's have a harder compound),but that's the price you pay for performance. They grip well dry, and work awesome in the rain. I will probably get 10k miles out of the current set before they are shot. But I also autocross on them. If you're just street driving, you should be able to get 15-20k out of them.
