Frustrated!!!

I ordered the new American Racing Rebel Chrome wheels for my 1994 Z28. According to American Racing and Sears they were the correct wheels for the car. I got the 17x9 with the 275x40x17 tires...just like many of you already have. When they mounted them...they stuck out from the wheel well, and you couldn't even turn the wheel (tires would rub the front...pretty bad. They had a 255 series tire they thought would work...but it did the same thing. I assume that was a wheel offset problem even though they said they were supposed to fit. I've seen similar one's on other cars and they look great...the one's they mounted on mine looked rediculous. At least they refunded all my money ($1500) so in the end I just lost a little time and frustration. After the guys mounted the tires they kept saying there's no whay a wheel that size would work on the car...but again I kept telling him that there are numerous individuals with that same size on there with no issues...they didn't believe me; and rightfully so since the one's they mounted on my car didn't fit and looked as bad as they did.

Needless to say, I'm probably just going to replace my front to tires (they are worn pretty good and I've got a nail in the other) and just keep the stockers on for now...I'm pretty frustrated.

Everywhere I look, I see the 17X9s and the 275x40s for our cars...why didn't it work with me?

Umm...
The problem must be the offset you are getting.
Do you know the offset of the wheels they used?

Re: Frustrated!!!

Not sure. The American Racing website only listed one offset for the tire...regarless of diameter, width, etc... I belive it was 26 which didn't sound right to me. As far as I know everything on the SLP site (takeoffs) was about a 56mm. HOWEVER, when the sales rep at sears did the research...they said that Amercican Racing said that thte wheels they sent were the correct ones for the car. What I don't know is what the actual wheel was. Sounds weird, the American Racing website didn't even list the 17x9...they only listed the 18x9 and 18x10. But when the sales rep called, they said they were available and had the right ones for the car.

that's all I really know.
