front vs. back wheels

What is the general size everyone runs on their camaro. 17"x9.5", 18"x9.5".....and so on. Or do most of you use different sizes for the front and back? Basically what set up seems to look the best?

I have almost the same question. Some say run 17x9.5 all the way around and some say 17x9.5 on the back and 17X8.5 in the front. What is right? Also does it make a difference if it is lowered?

17x9.5 all around w/ 275/40-17 tires is a good upgrade, just bolt-on & go.
17x9.5 w/ 275/40-17 frt. and 17x11 w/ 315/35-17 rr. is the largest you can go without doing extensive modifications- you'll still have to do grinding on the bumpstops, some pounding on the fenderwells, and bending the fenderlip in so it won't chew up the tire. It's also about the largest size you can go before things start getting really expensive.

The same rules will apply for 18" for width, just remember that the tire diameter will have to stay the same for a wide tire or it will be too big to fit.

IMO 17" looks great on f-bodies, especially w/ really wide tires. 18" is acceptable too- some people like even bigger but I don't see the point.

Re: front vs. back wheels

I would rather not have to beat up on my fender walls and stuff. So should I run smaller wheels on the front than the back or ......?

Re: front vs. back wheels

If you are going to "stagger" the wheel sizes, either using a small/large diameter, or a narrow/wide width, you would put the larger diameter and/or the larger width wheels on the rear.

A 17x9.5" with a 275/40-17 tire or an 18x9.5" wheel with a 275/35-18 tire will fit comfortably on all 4 corners, with no alterations. It does require that you get wheels with the correct "offset". That determines how deep the wheels sit in the wheel wells. For a 4th Gen yuo should be looking for 9.5" wide wheels with offsets in the range of 45mm - 56mm.

You might want to read the FAQ, stickied at the top of the "Wheels and Tires" forum topic listing. That has a ton of info relative to wheel and tire selection for the 4th Gens. Brent Franker also has a huge online collecton of Camaros and Firebirds with a wide variety of wheels.

It's not as bad as you think. A lot of people have done it. Plus it looks just fine as long as you take the time to spray a new coating on once you're done hammering.
