Re: fitment question

Typically, 1st thru 3rd Gen wheels have "0" offset (which means the backspace = 1/2 of the wheel width +.5"). The 4th Gens require 2" offset (which means the backspace = 1/2 of the wheel width + 2.5"). That means the outside edge of the earlier (79) wheels may be quite a ways outside the fender of your 4th Gen. Nothing you can do other than maybe buy a 3rd Gen rear axle assembly, which is 3" narrower than the 4th Gen rear.

Additionally, many 15" wheel will not clear the front disc brakes on the front. I run 15" Weld Pro-Stars and had to use a 5/16" spacer in the front and grind the fins off the brake calipers in the rear to fit the on.

If you have the exact width and offset of the wheel you bought for your 79, I could give you a more accurate answer. But most likely you will just need to test fit them and see if they will work. A narrow wheel has a better chance of fitting than a wide wheel.
