What do wider tires do, and what do skinnier tires do?

My stock Tires are 215/60-16

I want wider tires to make the car look more beefy and for handling, so I was looking to get some 255/50-16's

But....these are slightly more expensive. So, what if I only put the 2 wider tires on the back wheels and kept the stock ones in the front, until I could afford the 2 front ones?

And are there any limitations on tires this wide? In other words, can I put on 255/50-16's on a stock rear end?

 

go with 245/50/16. its more popular, so cost lil less, but still more than the 215.

its best to have the same size so you can rotate, otherwise, you wont be saving money with just 2 wider tires since itll be spent quicker. tires will lose half their life if they arent rotated and are on the drive axles
