drag radial?

i currently have some 17" wheels w/ 245/45/zr17 tires. i dont know exactly how wide the wheels are.
but im looking to get some drag radials that will fit this same wheel, how can i find out what drag radial tire to use.
i searched to see if nitto drags, m/t drags, bfg, had a drag radial tire of the exact size mentioned above but could not find anything.

what drag radial tire do you recommend?
thanks
michael

MT's site lists suggested rim width for each of its drag radials(ET street radials). Although I've been told by a reputable source that they're reccomendations are a bit low.

u mean u could go with a larger tire then suggested?

and yes i believe M/T ET Street Radials are the best for traction wise... but for DD Nitto 555R's are better because of better drivability... longer lasting...and better in the rain.... and it all matters how wide ur rims are....cant tell u anything until u give us a rim width... i kno on the stock salad shooters 16x8 most people go with 255's ET Streets..... thats what im doing

No, I wasn't suggesting that. On MT's site an 8.5" rim is suggested for a 275/50r15. On their site a + or - 1" deviation is stated as acceptable for the rim sized suggested, in this case, 8.5". Steve from SJM manufacturing told me that the ideal rim size for a 275/50R15 was actually 10". He said they're probably not including the two flanges of the rim that hold the tire bead on the rim. So, when they suggest an 8.5" rim, they're only meaning the nominal width of the rim, which, in this case, would bring the actual rim width(the width rim you would actually buy) up about 1". Another example: a 9.5" rim with the two flanges actually measures out to be about 10.5" wide. You could contact Ingineer if you have more specific questioning, he's the real expert in this field, I'm just regurgitating what he has told me.
