Cutting Grinding Banging

I'm trying to fit M/T Drags 28 x 10.5, mounted on my new Weld
Pro-Stars 15 x 10 7.5 BS, onto my 93Z. I've read that "some"
grinding needs to be done to fit these tires/wheels but I've
cut, grinded and banged for four hours and I still rub when going
around turns. Has anyone gotten this combo to fit without using
spacers?

I run M/T ET Drag 28x10.5-15W with the same wheels, and was able to hammer the inner fenders enough to clear them. How fast are you going around corners with slicks? What part rubs - inner fender or outer fender?

Re: Cutting Grinding Banging

The only place it is still rubbing is the body crease where the suspension
jounce bolts to.

I completely removed the rear suspension jounce and the framing that
it bolts up to. From there, I used my air body-saw and cut out half-way up
on the creased inner body reinforcement. My neighbor wanted to bring
his plasma cutter to completely cut the crease out but I was afraid I
might lose support to the rear coil springs.

My test drives were just in my subdivison. I never drove over 25mph and
all the turns were from stop signs.

Re: Cutting Grinding Banging

It's amazing how much different each car is, in spite of the fact they all came off the same assembly line. When I was running 28" QTP's, another guy on the board with the same wheels/tires had to cut away the inner fenders the same way you did, but mine fit with the same amount of hammering I had done for a set of 315's on 17x11's.

I also helped fit the 28" "W"s on a 30th SS convertible, and we probably did less hammering on that car than we did on mine.

I've driven mine on the street a bit with the "W"s and never had a problem with corners.

Re: Cutting Grinding Banging

I called MOSER today and they said I could run spacers with THEIR
wheel studs. I'm using a MOSER9" rear so I am set to go.
