Can I put anything wider than 275 on 19" rims?
Can I put anything wider than 275 on 19" rims?
So, I just bought a set of GM C6's:
(2) 18 x 8.5
(2) 19 x 10
I read up on the stickied post, and I see the largest width tire for the 19's
is 275... is that the widest I can go (without modifying anything)?
Also, what's the widest I can go in the front, without modifying and without rubbing? 255 correct? Just want to make sure before buying

with the 19's in the rear i believe you would have to modify something no matter what size tire you go with but im not 100% correct. maybe just some spacers will do the trick with 275's.

You might to ride in someone's car that have such rims. The more rim, the less tire, the harsher the ride. It'll do a number on your molars.
You going to be using a nice heavy hammer in the rear wheel.

Ok.
lol. Here's a better question:
What's the widest size tire I can go, in the front AND back, without having to hammer lol. Or use spacers... if even possible?

Anything wrong with hammerin like hell? lol... Its not gonna do any damage will it?
What about on the front, should I encounter any problems with the 18"s up there?

fronts you should have no problem, i have 18x9.5's up front with 275/40/18s with no rub.
theres nothin wrong with hammering the rear fender well, it jus basically dents it to make the extra clearance you need. check out the wheel/tire FAQ, it should help you a lot.

Make sure you wear hearing protection...

Check out the photos and some helpful hints, like putting the backseat down before you start hammering.

You don't want 275/40-18's in the front. That's a 26.7" tire, an inch larger than stock. An oversize diameter is inviting rubbing problems. You would want a 275/35-18.
There's nothing about using 19's that absolutely requires hammering and spacers. It depends on the offset of the wheels. If they are factory Z06 wheels, the front offset is 58mm, and they will fit fine.
The rears are 79mm offset, and that requires a 1.25" spacer, not because its a 19" wheel, but because of the excessive offset. There's a photo and a how to explaining all this in the FAQ.
There is nothing in the FAQ that says you can't put a tire larger than 275 on the back because they are 19's. It just happens that Brent and I only posted info about the 275's. You can use a larger tire, like the 285/30-19 or a 295/30-19. Both those will work on 10" wide wheel. There's also a 305/30-19 but you need at least a 10.5" wide wheel for that.
Your limitation is not the fact that you have 19" wheels. The fitment problems arise from the excessive offset, and the tires are limited by the width of the wheel, nothing to do with the diameter.

Re: Can I put anything wider than 275 on 19" rims?
Cool, thanks for putting it more into lamens terms for me injuneer
I just saw that the 19" wheels are in fact a 79mm offset,
I'm going 275/35/18 in the front, and 295/30/19 in the back.
As for hearing problems, my radio is usually cranked up loud enough to shatter my teeth and my eardrums =)
And if not, the top is down, so Im used to all kinds of road noises
