Question C5 Deep Dish on a Trans Am?

Alright, so seeing as how people have put the 18x9 front, 19x10 rear C6 rims on 4th gens, I was wondering what if anything would I have to do to put these on my Trans Am? They are a bit wider in the rear, so would I have to get bigger spacers or something?

C5 Deep Dish 17x9.5 Front, 18x10.5 Rear rims.

Also, how would they look on a Trans Am? Does any one have any pics?

there was a guy in GM-High Tech magazine a few months ago with some deep dishes, he had a narrowed rear end for clearance.

Re: C5 Deep Dish on a Trans Am?

You need to know the offset or the backspace of the wheels, in order to determine what you have to do, if anything, to make them fit.

Looking at the specs for the wheels you linked, the fronts look fine (54mm offset). The rear tires (56mm offset) may rub on the inner fenders and the inner lip of the wheel may catch the projecting edge of the jounce bumper bracket when you jack the car. The backspace would appear to be almost identical to the 17x11.0" 50mm offset wheels shown in the "stickied" FAQ, so that will give you an idea of what you may have to do to make them fit.

Consider a 275/40-17 (25.7") for the front, 285/35-18 (25.9") or 295/35-18 (26.1") for the back.

Alright, so I went through the whole sticky. Unfortunately, all I could find was pics and a deadlink to Injuneer's FAQ.

Re: C5 Deep Dish on a Trans Am?

What link was dead, in post #9 in this FAQ thread?

https://www.camaroz28.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=312442

The only links that do not work are for two sites that are NOT mine, and over which I have no control. They show the 45mm and 38mm offset wheels, which would not be relavent to your issues.

I did update the Kelly Drown link to the 45mm offsets.

What specific link to "Injuneer's FAQ" did you find not working? To my knowledge I do not have a personal FAQ, just the stuff stickied at the top of the Wheels and Tires forum listing. Those are CZ28.com FAQ's, not "Injuneer's".

I really thought I was helping you, not trying to annoy you.

Thanks for the link. I shall go through it very thoroughly before I ask any questions. Seriously, thanks alot bro.

Yep, #9 on your FAQ (17x9.5" and 17x11" Wheels on a 4th Gen) is exactly what I needed. Thanks again. So, From what I've read, 56mm offset with a 10.5" wide rim and some 275 tires, should be fine? If not use one or more of the methods in there. Anyways, all things in there should be considered and looked over when installing the wheels. Right? Thanks again.

lol. I was looking at the "Post your 17x11 ZR1 pics!" thread. My bad. I saw you say 17x11 and went back and thought that was it.

Re: C5 Deep Dish on a Trans Am?

Can I run 315/30-18 or 305/35-18 on the 18x10.5 rears? That's if I do get new adjustable panhard bars, cut the outer edge off the jounce bumper bracket, hammer the inner fender liners, and roll the rear fender lips. Or, would they still not fit or rub? Just wondering. I heard someone got the 295's in the rear with these rims and was regretting not getting wider tires. This is a good deal of money, and I don't want to regret not going with the bigger tire size.

Re: C5 Deep Dish on a Trans Am?

The only 305's I see on Tire Rack are "competition" (off road) tires. And some require at least an 11" wide wheel.

The 315/30-18 will fit on a 10.5" wide wheel, but its only a 25.5" tire, slightly smaller than stock. The thin sidewall is going to provide a harsh ride, and leave the rim susceptible to damage from potholes. The wide section width increases the chances of rubbing. My 315/35-17 BFG Drag Radials have a 12.4" section width. Compare the actual dimensions for the specific tire you are looking at. The actual width varies from tire to tire.

I see. So, I guess 295/35-18's are the best choice. Thanks.
