Blown sidewall on Goodyear GSD3

Has anyone heard of this happening to these tires. I want to say that I heard about it on an STI forum. None the less it happened to me the other day while driving down the interstate. Just curious if anyone knows anything. Thanks

Re: Blown sidewall on Goodyear GSD3

Blow outs happen a lot, but very rarely did I used to see them on a z rated tire, unless it was run low on air, had bad wear on it, or the bead was ripped while mounting due to the low profile tire. In fact in 3 years of working at a very busy tire shop, i dont think I ever saw a healthy z rated tire blow on its own.

BTW, in my opinion goodyear = crap, just thought i would throw that in there.

I of course know that blowouts happen alot. For some reason I thought that I heard that this was happening to the GSD3 at an abnormal rate (possible defect?). Thanks for the input.

Granted, I'm not a fan of the entire Goodyear line but the GS-D3 is a great tire.

I've heard nothing about a possible defect and I sell a ton of these.

I worked at AZT09 (discount tire) for 3 years as a tech. Only worked on one car with the GS-D3. We put a set on an LS1 WS6. Guy cam back the next day, he hated the tires, we ended up taking them off and putting on some BFG's for him. They guy may have been nuts, plus ive never actually driven a car with them on it, but what ive seen from goodyear I tend to beleive him.

Just my opinion.

Excellent, another tire guy!!

I've heard a few complaints about road noise and ride. I was just speaking of ability. I attended a Goodyear Ride and Drive a few months ago, these things are worth the hype.

I still don't know if I'd put them on my car, I'm more of a Michelin fan.
