Whats the biggest nitto i can get on the back of my 95 camaro with 18 inch ZO6 rims?? Nitto tells me only a 285/35/18. I've already had 275's on it and it looks like theres more room for a wider tire then just a 285.... Has anybdy had bigger tires then what nitto has told me i dont want to modify anything on teh car to get the tires to fit. All help will be great....

 

How wide are the wheels? That will determine what the max size tire is. What is the offset of the wheels? That will determine whether the tires will hit anything if they are a given width.

For example, if they are 9.5" wide, most manufacturers will not recommend anything wider than a 285/35-18. A 295/35-18 typically requires a 10" wide wheel.

 

I have no clue what the offset is on the wheels. I think they are 18x9 they coould be 9.5 but i doubt it.

 

Hell i have 275/35/18 tires right now and i had to do a little wheel well modification. I have C5 vette rims. Maybe 10.5 i also had to put air bags in the springs so i wouldn't bottom out when i got on it.

 

How old are your 275's. I have extremely bald drag radials and was thinking of getting some used tires so if you get new ones let me know.

 

Stock C5 Z06s' came in 18x10.5 58mm offset, from the factory. That gives them an 8.0" backspace, which will almost certainly rub the inside edge of the tire against the inside edge of the fender liner. Repro Z06's are available in several offsets and widths. A very common one is 18x9.5" 61mm offset. That wheel gives you a 7.60" backspace, which should fit in the back with no problems.

 

i had 275/40/17 on the car no problem...

 

yes they rubbed bad so I had to cut a some and use a 5lb. hammer.
