Best track/street tire for stock rims?
Best track/street tire for stock rims?
I've got to replace the tires on my car. They're currently what came with the car when I bought it - Kelly Vipers. Needless to say they suck.
I'm looking for a tire that can do a good job of doing 50% street driving and 50% track duty. I will be retaining the stock 16" Z28 rims that came with my '94. Right now I've got 245/55R16's on there.
I'm looking to keep the prices "reasonable". I am willing to pay for quality though. Any suggestions?

Re: Best track/street tire for stock rims?
The stock tire sizes for the 94 Z28 were either 235/55-16 or 245/50-16. I'm not aware of anyone even making a 245/55-16 tire.
The stickiest (non Drag Radial) tires seem to be the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3's. A set of those in a 245/50-16 would be a good choice. Tire Rack has them for $156.

Oops, that was a typo.....I do have 245/50R16's.
I have heard great things about the GS-D3's.
How about Toyo Tires? Anyone have them or heard about their performance?
