Best size Pilot PS2's for my '94 Camaro with C5 Z06 Wheels?
Best size Pilot PS2's for my '94 Camaro with C5 Z06 Wheels?
Hey guys, over the winter I picked up some (hopefully real) Z06 wheels off of a 2001 Corvette. Since we're approaching the warm weather, I decided to shop around for tires this week. It was a tough call between Nitto, BF Goodrich, and Michelin. I believe I will be going with the Pilot Sport PS2s in the rear (still working on the fronts though. I'll get back to you lol).
So my question is, what size tire should I be looking for? According to the Michelin website, a stock 2001 Z06 should be running "P295/35ZR18/LL 91Y" rears. Though is that the best route for a '94 Camaro? If I get too big of a tire - it won't fit, but if I go too small - I lose grip. I rather not make major modifications to my fender or bumper if possible. I'm not really a body guy.
I already picked up a 1/4" spacer for the rims. So that should help the wheel sit nicely. Just need a safe wheel size and I'm ready to go
. Well, until next week when I have to decide on fronts
.
Thanks guys!
Also, if you guys have any input/reviews of this setup, please let me know! The car's only mods will be an intake, exhaust, and a tune. I see that PS2 tires come stock on new BMW M3, Porshe 911 and the Corvette ZR1. So hopefully I'll be able to use 1st gear at WOT for once Lol.
Also, for reverence:
Stock 2001 Z06 wheels are:
Front: 17 x 9.5" 54mm offset
Rear: 18 x 10.5 58mm offset

just to say i don't think they are "OEM" if they don't have the logo on the center. I don't know if yours have them, but they are NICE rims either way.
good luck!
good luck!

The 18x10.5" wheel has an 8" backspace. That is very likely to cause the inside edge of the tire to rub on the inner fender liners, and the edge of the rim to catch on the projecting edge of the jounce bumper bracket. Read the FAQ post about putting 17x11.0 50mm offset wheels in the back of a 4th Gen. You will have the same problems.
You should try and match your stock tire diameter. They were either 235/55-16 (26.1") base wheels, or 245/50-16 (25.7") if the car came with the Z-rated tire option. A 295/35-18 is a 26.1" tire, so you should be OK, with only a small speedo error if your PCM is set for 25.7" tires. That tire also is recommended for wheels 10.0 - 11.5" wide, so you should be fine once you address the interferences.
