basic tire physics

basic tire physics

Will a skinnier front tire, increase the MPH and decrease the 1/4 mile times?

Yes, because you would have less weight and less aerodynamic drag...

So it doesn't have to do with contact area?

Less weight affects it a lot due to less rotational mass mainly. Also a smaller contact patch means less friction and therefore less resistance in moving the car. As far as real world gains I'm not positive I'm sure someone here has done before and after tests with skinny's in the front and can chip in.
